WOW ambassadors – from pilot to reality

This academic year (22/23), our flagship walk to school challenge, WOW, comes with an exciting new role – the WOW Ambassador. A WOW Ambassador is an important role a pupil can take on to support the delivery of WOW in their school.

This academic year (22/23), our flagship walk to school challenge, WOW, comes with an exciting new role – the WOW Ambassador. A WOW Ambassador is an important role a pupil can take on to support the delivery of WOW in their school.

WHAT DID TEACHERS THINK?

When asking teachers about the benefits of running WOW with the help of WOW Ambassadors, 75% ‘agreed’ or ‘strongly agreed’ that it helped increase active travel to school.

WHAT DID PUPILS THINK?

We also asked if the children liked their role, and we got some fantastic feedback. 75% of pupil WOW Ambassadors ‘loved’ their new role, and the remaining 25% ‘liked’ it!

They especially enjoyed the responsibility and ownership that being a WOW Ambassador gave them, promoting a healthy lifestyle and handing out the badges at the end of every month.
